Workshop in Amman on the Health, Legal, Economic, and Education needs of Gaza - 9 April 2025
On 9 April, a follow up meeting took place in Amman to reflect on the findings of the Cairo conference we convened in February 2025, and to see how that process can be furthered. The focus was on four key sectors essential to the social fabric of daily life in Gaza: health, education, the legal system, and the economy.
Participants collectively emphasised the pressing need for a renewed regional vision founded on dignity, cooperation, and shared responsibility. They stressed the importance of shifting from an ‘architecture of control’ to an ‘architecture of care’ through inclusive and collaborative regional initiatives. The establishment of a Levant Citizens’ Assembly was proposed as a mechanism to transcend elite-driven discourse and promote genuinely people-centered governance.
The occasion gave us the opportunity to meet with the French and British Ambassadors in Amman to discuss the role of Britain and Europe in promoting a political vision in post-conflict Gaza.
