Meeting with Aida Touma-Suleiman in London, 22 September 2026

The Forward Thinking team met with Aida Touma-Suleiman, who has been a Hadash Member of the Knesset since 2015 and was the first Arab woman to chair a Knesset committee, in London. The conversation covered internal Israeli politics and the pressures facing Knesset members who openly challenge government policy, including the sanctions and threats Aida herself has faced.

We also discussed the growing shift to the right among young Israelis, and the profound effect 7 October has had on Israeli society, particularly the youth. Aida also spoke about her plans to step down after more than a decade in the Knesset, and about where her work might take her next.
