WSF Network Participates in Parliamentary Seminar on Climate Action, Health Security, and Resilient Societies in the Mediterranean

On 6–9 September 2026, the WSF Network participated in a workshop in Italy on Climate Action, Health Security, and Resilient Societies in the Mediterranean. Organised by Parliamentarians for Climate (P4C), in partnership with UNITE’s Parliamentarians Network for Global Health and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Political Dialogue South Mediterranean Program, the seminar brought together parliamentarians, government advisers, and experts from across the Mediterranean.

Nancy Ehrenberg-Peters, WSF Programme Manager, was invited to present the WSF network as a model of a cross-regional parliamentary network advancing gender-responsive climate policies. WSF participation helped embed gender-responsive approaches within wider parliamentary discussions on climate, health and environmental policymaking, including the use of gender-disaggregated data and indicators to ensure national responses reflect the different impacts on women and vulnerable communities.

WSF members Dr Majda Al Fallah, Senator at the High Council of State of Libya; Dr Marianne Azer, Former Parliamentarian of Egypt; and Dr Ibtissame Azzaoui, Former Parliamentarian of Morocco and Founder and Director of P4C, also participated. They contributed to the discussion on how the WSF network has supported women parliamentarians to strengthen their role in national water and environmental policymaking and implementation.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for WSF network to strengthen links with other parliamentary networks working across climate, health, and gender, and highlighted the value of cross-regional collaboration in addressing shared environmental and public health challenges.
