WSF Steering Group Meeting, 2 September 2025
The Women for a Sustainable Future (WSF) Steering Group convened online on 2 September 2025. The WSF Steering Group represents the network’s diverse membership and guides the group’s strategic direction and activities. The meeting was attended by parliamentarians, former parliamentarians, a former government advisor, a diplomat, a health official, and a sustainable development expert from Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Northern Ireland, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
The Steering Group assessed the outcomes of the July WSF conference in Amman, which addressed two central themes: policies in the care economy, and the disproportionate impact of water scarcity and climate change on women and girls in the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region and Europe. Members highlighted the high-quality evidence and analysis presented by experts, noting its practical impact and relevance for national policy development. Following the conference, a parliamentarian from Bosnia and Herzegovina advocated within their government for amendments to national childcare policies to better support women and families.
Members committed to moving from knowledge-sharing to using WSF insights to work with their respective governments and shape legislative responses, with a particular focus on creating policies to address groundwater contamination and improve water quality standards.
