On the 9th of June Forward Thinking helped to facilitate a series of meetings for Max Hill QC, the Independent Reviewer of Terrorist Legislation in Manchester. Meetings were organised with a diverse range of individuals for Manchester’s Muslim communities – including representatives of the British-Libyan community – to explore perspectives on current legislation and the government’s broader strategy for countering violent extremism. Discussions were shaped by the recent terrorist attacks at the Manchester Arena and London Bridge and provided a space for frank dialogue on the successes, perceived failures and potential recommendations for Britain’s approach to terrorism.

These meetings formed part of Forward Thinking’s Building Bridges programme, which seeks to establish channels between Muslim communities and the wider British establishment – representatives of local government, civil servants, parliamentarians, policymakers and the national media – to promote greater understanding and inform policymaking.
