Forward Thinking’s Report Informs Northern Ireland Assembly Speech on the Crisis in Sudan, 11 November 2025

WSF

On 11 November, Sinéad McLaughlin, Member of the Legislative Assembly, addressed the Northern Ireland Assembly to shed light on the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan. Her speech drew directly on the evidence and recommendations compiled by Forward Thinking from a recent press briefing led by the Sudanese Ambassador to the UK at the Sudanese Embassy in London.

Sinéad highlighted the deteriorating situation on the ground and urged for stronger international action. Recommendations referenced included ensuring immediate humanitarian access to affected populations, designating the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) - a warring party to the conflict - as a terrorist organisation, and ensuring accountability for international actors - including the United Arab Emirates – for fuelling the violence  by allegedly supplying weapons and financial support to the RSF.
