Meetings with the Leadership of the Yemeni Supreme Council for Popular Resistance, 20 September 2025

On 20 September 2025, we were invited to attend meetings in Istanbul with the leadership of the Yemeni Supreme Council for Popular Resistance, led by Sheikh Hammoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi. They are a unified leadership body formed by Yemen’s governorate-level Popular Resistance councils. At these meetings the Council shared information on the historical background of the conflict in Yemen and its evolution. They also presented their vision for peace and the future of Yemen.

These meetings provided an important space to discuss the ongoing conflict in Yemen and to reflect on barriers to dialogue and conflict resolution. It was also an opportunity to learn more about the Council’s work, while underscoring the urgent need for broader, more inclusive international dialogue to achieve sustainable peace in Yemen.
