WSF Steering Group Meeting - 9 July 2026
On 9 July, the Women for a Sustainable Future (WSF) Steering Group convened online to finalise the network's Action Plan and strategic priorities for the coming period. The Action Plan consolidates the priorities and recommendations identified during the WSF’s in-person meeting in Cairo, subsequent discussions, and requests by WSF members from Europe and the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region.
The Steering Group agreed to strengthen the WSF's work on sharing cross-regional lessons, policies, and legislative approaches to address gender-based violence, including AI-enabled and online abuse, hate crime, and social cohesion challenges across both regions.
The network also identified advancing feminist foreign policy through Europe–WANA knowledge exchange as a strategic priority, alongside strengthening climate security in conflict-affected contexts by exploring approaches to the green transition, natural resource protection, and sustainable environmental governance.
Recognising that these challenges transcend borders and sectors, the Steering Group reaffirmed the WSF's role as a unique platform for bringing together parliamentarians, policymakers, diplomats, experts, and academics to exchange practical experience and develop collaborative policy responses.
