On Thursday 1st April, Forward Thinking held an online discussion with former Israeli diplomat, Eran Etzion. Etzion has more than 20 years of experience in diplomacy and politics, with roles including Head of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Head of the National Security Council in the Prime Minister’s office.
Etzion provided an overview of Israel’s fourth election in less than two years, which took place on the 23rd of March. He examined the possible scenarios that are emerging within the political blocs of parties, as well as the potential of a fifth election if no government can be formed. He also provided his perspective on the key political trends within Israel, including the growing role of the Palestinian-Israeli community and the increasing political fragmentation across Israeli politics.
